My stress level is through the roof.
The struggle is real my dudes. Forreal, I’m in the midst of writing an 80+ page thesis, I have to move out of my apartment in a month, I have to find another apartment by August (with a random roommate cause I can’t afford to live by myself) etc. So naturally, I’m looking up stress management quotes lol.
There are moments when I am overwhelmed (aka 5 minutes ago lol) and there are other times when I feel a rush of optimism. I prefer the latter. It feels so much better to feel better. No one really wants to feel like sh*t right?
So what I like to do when I’m stressed, is read motivating and inspiring stress management quotes. I feel like even just reading them over and over makes me feel one million percent times better. You know what people say that when you fake a smile, it actually makes you happier? I think it sorta works like that.
5 Stress Management Quotes to Read When You’re Feeling Overwhelmed:
“If you hold back on the emotions – if you don’t allow yourself to go all the way through them – you can never get to being detached, you’re too busy being afraid. You’re afraid of the pain, you’re afraid of the grief. You’re afraid of the vulnerability that loving entails. But by throwing yourself into these emotions, by allowing yourself to dive in, all the way, over your head even, you experience them fully and completely. You know what pain is. You know what love is. You know what grief is. And only then can you say, “All right. I have experienced that emotion. I recognize that emotion. Now I need to detach from that emotion for a moment.”
― Morrie Schwartz, Tuesdays with Morrie
First of all Tuesdays with Morrie is one of my favorite books. If you haven’t read it you’re missing out big time. I love this quote because sometimes we hold back our feelings and keep them bottled up forever. However, to move past them, we need to dive deeper into them. What Mitch is reiterating, is that in the height of our stress, it’s important to recognize what we’re feeling in order to move past it. Have yourself a good cry, or write out your feelings in a journal entry. Notice how much better you feel afterward. I’m not saying you’ll never be stressed out again, but in the moment it helps tremendously.
“The greatest weapon against our stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.”
Our thought process is powerful, and I often forget that. We allow ourselves to get overwhelmed when we decide to let the negative thought overpower the positive.
“If life got just a little bit harder it probably means you leveled up.”
This one is kinda corny but I still really like it. Life is all about moving up!

“Some periods of our growth are so confusing that we don’t even recognize that growth is happening.
We may feel hostile or angry or weepy and hysterical, or we may feel depressed. It would never occur to us, unless we stumbled on a book or a person who explained to us, that we were in fact in the process of change, of actually becoming larger, spiritually, than we were before.
Whenever we grow, we tend to feel it, as a young seed must feel the weight and inertia of the earth as it seeks to break out of its shell on its way to becoming a plant. Often the feeling is anything but pleasant. But what is most unpleasant is the not knowing what is happening.
Those long periods when something inside ourselves seems to be waiting, holding its breath, unsure about what the next step should be, eventually become the periods we wait for, for it is in those periods that we realize that we are being prepared for the next phase of our life and that, in all probability, a new level of the personality is about to be revealed.”
-Alice Walker, Living by the Word
We need to realize we’re changing (and for the better)! In the future, when we look back on these hard times, we realize we are just learning and growing.
Life is unpredictable,
It changes with the seasons,
Even your coldest winter,
Happens for the best of reasons,
And though it feels eternal,
Like all you’ll ever do is freeze,
I promise spring is coming
And with it, brand new leaves.
Hope these stress management quotes keep you inspired and motivated to keep going. You got this, friends!!!
