Ever feel like the cost of hair and beauty products is too damn high?
‘Cause same. However, I’m a total sucker for trying new hair and beauty products…dare I say, it’s my weakness. I absolutely adore adding new sh*t to my beauty routine. Whether it’s hair, makeup or nails related– if you’re selling, I wanna be buyin’. Of course, I’m a broke a$$ hoe, so drugstore beauty buys are the expanse of my beauty guru knowledge. Drugstore beauty buys FTW!
Here are my absolute favorite drugstore beauty buys, that are a great addition to your daily routine:
Mandy’s Favorites – 10 Drugstore Beauty Buys:
When I was younger I went to the dermatologist because I had acne issues. I had pretty oily skin at the time, but the first thing she told me was to use moisturizer.
Add moisture to my already oily skin? Seems like a bad idea….
…but not exactly. When your skin is dry, it actually produces MORE oil. So by applying moisturizer every morning, you’re on your way to better skin!
I love Neutrogena moisturizer because their products are dermatologist tested (unless the bottle is lying to us all). Aveeno is another great brand. It’s a little more pricey but has added sunscreen and feels really great on my skin.
2. Nail File
Maybe I was the only person without a nail file, but HOLY MOLY I was missing out!
I’ve got the weakest, most brittle nails ever. I can literally peel layers off they break so easily. Ever since I got a fancy file, my nails have been so much better off.
I got a 4-in-1 nail file that has the function of each file labeled on each side.
Best part? They’re so cheap.
3. Hair Masque/ Leave in Conditioner
If you don’t know this about me already, I do my own hair highlights. I should honestly put that on my resume…that shit is impressive. If you’re interested in my hair highlighting process, check out how I do ’em here!
So with doing all this sh*t to my hair, it obvi gets damaged. So deep conditioning is hella important. I’ve used Mystic Divine Nourishing Masque and Coconut Oil Deep Repair Masque from Sally Beauty and they’ve worked wonders.
For my leave in conditioner, I splurge a bit but I cannot even begin to tell you how much it’s worth it. It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In conditioner is amaaaazing! It leaves your hair silky soft and with zero signs of grease. AND GUESS WHAT?! I just found the generic leave in on Sally Beauty! HYFR.
4. Heat Protector Spray
We do a lot of things to our hair. Curling, blow drying, straightening and the list goes on.
The damage happens. Protect yo hair with hair protector spray.

5. Beauty Blender
I am obsessed with my sponge makeup blender. I use it to even out my foundation, contouring and more. You can literally use it for any powder or cream product. It’s super easy to use, and easy to clean.
6. Makeup Primer
I was never a makeup primer believer until recently, but they are dope (and not a waste of money).
There are primers of all kinda to blur pores, reduce redness and illuminate your skin. It works to fill in any imperfections and allows foundation or BB cream to be applied more evenly and last longer.
7. BB Cream
If you wake up every morning and put on a full face of makeup you’re a goddess. If you don’t, you’re like the rest of womankind (and that’s okay).
Sometimes putting on makeup is a lot of fun, but if you’re in a time crunch or just feeling lazy, BB cream is the best. It covers up any imperfections like a foundation, moisturizes and conceals your skin all in one. It’s kinda a miracle product.
8. Green Concealer
We all get zits, and usually at the worst time. Green concealer is awesome because it cancels out the redness of a pimple. Remember learning about the color wheel in art class? It’s kinda like that.
You put the green on the blemish to cover it up, blend it (usually with your beauty blender 😉 ) and then put your regular concealer over it. It really makes a pimple less visible, making you feel way less self-conscious.
I use the NYX Cosmetics because it’s got a great application wand.
9. Setting Spray
Setting spray is one of the best ways to make sure your makeup lasts for a long time, and in rough conditions (sun, rain, humidity etc.). Like the primer, I recently became a believer in the spray, and am never looking back.
10. Makeup Remover
I’ve tried my best to get away with the soap and water trick to try to wash away my makeup, but I end up with raccoon eyes that lasted for days…smh @ myself.
I finally decided to stop being stingy and purchase makeup remover and I can’t even begin to tell you how happy I am with that decision. It’s quick, easy, and takes your makeup off without the intense scrubbing action.
It’s especially helpful when you’re tired at night and just want to go to sleep. Especially since sleeping in makeup is a huge no. Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover is the best!
